Early career researchers scoop prizes at Scotland’s biggest energy academic conference

PhD students and early career researchers conducting research in the field of energy were awarded prizes for best presentations and academic posters at the ETP 11th Annual Conference on 1 November in Edinburgh. The conference is an excellent opportunity to discover innovative energy research from the next generation of academics in Scotland and beyond. 

Winners of the best presentations at sessions 

The 2022 event held 17 theme sessions. Over 130 delegates heard from early career researchers who presented their research, and the following were awarded a prize for best presentation:

  • A2: Energy Systems – Orestis Angelidis, University of Glasgow 
  • A3: Transport – Kathleen Davies, University of Strathclyde 
  • A4: Solar – Lewis Tamuno-Ibuomi, Glasgow Caledonian University
  • A5: Transition from Oil & Gas – Jesus Arturo Regalado Ruiz de Chavez, University of Aberdeen
  • B1: Bioenergy & Geothermal – Robert Sait-Stewart, University of Strathclyde 
  • B2: Offshore – Shuijin Li, University of Dundee
  • B3: Energy Distribution & Infrastructure 1 – Samuel Hayward, University of Edinburgh
  • B4: Batteries & Storage – Albert Sola Vilalta, University of Edinburgh 
  • B5: Energy Efficiency in Buildings 1 - Olufolake Olumogba, Glasgow School of Art
  • B6: Energy & Society 1 - Finlay Bain Kerr, University of Strathclyde 
  • C1: Energy & Society 2 – Simon Vakeva-Baird, University College London
  • C2: Hydrogen - Robert Price, University of Strathclyde 
  • C3: Energy Distribution & Infrastructure 2 – Andreas Lindemann, University of Edinburgh
  • C4: Materials – Maciej Jozwik, University of Dundee
  • C5: Energy Efficiency in Buildings 2 – Mahsa Sayfikar, Heriot-Watt University 
  • C6: Wind – Mary Atolagbe, Robert-Gordon University 

Winners of the ETP Poster Competition 

Prizes were also awarded to the best posters in the academic poster competition; judges from ETP awarded prizes to the following early career researchers:

The ETP 11th Annual Conference took place on 1 November 2022 at the John McIntyre Conference Centre in Edinburgh. The next ETP Annual Conference will take place on 12 December 2023.
